The term gamification has been around for years, but what is it?

Simply, it’s about bringing game-like elements and mechanics into a non-gaming context, such as e-learning lessons, and there are good reasons to incorporate gamification into your Moodle courses.

Introducing gamification into your Moodle learning management system can make a big difference (and implementing it can be much easier than you think)!

Why introduce gamification into your LMS?

  • Improved learner engagement – by using gamification to provide a sense of reward, achievement and even competition. For example, you can award learners points, as well as congratulations for completing specific actions.
  • Deeper learning – presenting Moodle courses and learning in a gamified format which may be more visual or interactive can improve learner understanding, especially for those who may struggle with more traditional presentations of e-learning.
  • Develop learning pathways – use Moodle gamification to incentivise your learners who follow pre-defined learning routes to attain the knowledge or skills they need to do their job to the highest standard.
